A Magnificent Milestone to End Another Challenging Year

The start of a new year always makes you reflect on what you’ve achieved in the past 12 months and look forward to what the next 12 months might bring. For everyone at Sporting Wellness, the ongoing uncertainty of the Covid 19 pandemic continues to put obstacles in our way. But despite this, we are proud to announce that in the last few days, we directly supported our one thousandth sportspeople.

Quite simply, this would not have been possible without the amazing efforts of several people. The trustees who oversee the clear direction of the charity and work closely with our health care providers to ensure the high level of mental health support on offer. The associates who process applications for support, communicate with fundraisers and coordinate fundraising events, reach out to corporate partners for support, look after the social media content…the list goes on.

And, of course, a massive thank you from everyone at Sporting Wellness to all the incredible people who have made the effort to raise money for us or – out of the goodness of their hearts – donated money to our charity. Every penny counts! Without this support, we could not provide the free mental health support that so many elite sportspeople desperately need. Plans are already in place for some exciting fundraising events in 2022 and we thank you all, in advance, for your continued support this year.

Huge congratulations must go to our founder, Callum Lea. The charity was his vision, his baby, and his tireless work in promoting the support Sporting Wellness offers and raising awareness of the mental health needs of so many deserves nothing but praise. At just 19 years of age, his own experiences made him realise there was an explicit need for improved mental health care for elite young sportspeople. The fact that we have now directly supported 1000 sportspeople proves that beyond all doubt. Well done, Callum.

As we enter 2022, there’ll no doubt be more bumps in the road. Rest assured, everyone at Sporting Minds will do everything we can to ensure the charity continues to grow and provide elite sportspeople with the support they need. Happy new year to all. Have a safe and healthy 2022.
