When I heard about Sporting Wellness from a player at my club, I immediately looked into it and found their website with extremely accessible support. Having access to free mental health support at the click of a button was game changing for me. By acknowledging and addressing the impact mental health has on physical performance, I’ve been able to develop myself as a player on court, and improve my mental health in all aspects of my life, finding balance between my studies, social life and volleyball.
It is incredibly important to destigmatise mental health in sports, since it plays such a large role in performance, on and off court. It’s very easy to not think about your mental health when it’s overshadowed by tour desire to improve physically. You’re not weak for asking for help.
